The Day After the Derby Hat Countdown

Well it sure felt strange waking up this morning and not having a Derby hat blog to prep for the Derby Hat Countdown!

For the past 101 days we’ve been showcasing one selected Derby hat each day from our Derby Hat Collection as a lead up to the 140th Run for the Roses. Each featured hat was given a brief introduction and a link to its own webpage where you could see it from all the different angles and read about the materials that were used to fashion it.

Yesterday we featured a Derby Hat Countdown Top Ten of the hats based upon popularity at our MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS® Facebook Page. It gave us a chance to recap some of the chapeaux that had been the most popular during the 101 days of the Countdown – and we found some new Derby-hat-and-horse-loving friends in the process!

Blog-DerbyHatCountdownTopTen2014-4-ChelseaDer60-026I’d really like to thank Kelley Midland, Candice who does their Facebook Page and Brian Zipse of for their support with the Countdown. They heard about my idea for the Derby hat counter and started sharing it every day on Facebook ever since the 50th hat. It’s been fun getting to know their team, meet some of their visitors and I became a contributing writer to boot!

And thank YOU for tuning in and following the Countdown for these 101 days. The 140th Kentucky Derby is now in the history books and it’s time to get on with the next project here at Hats and Horses.

Whatever that may be!

In the meantime, I think maybe Marmee has the right idea about what needs to be done first and foremost here at the MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS studio after a very busy Derby hat run.

Blog-Marmee96 And I always listen to my Muse.

Thanks for visiting us here at Hats and Horses, ’til next time!
