Blog-DerbyHatCountdownPoster-2015-52HatsI love the Liza hat style. Measuring about 17 inches across, she’s not too big but still has the pizzazz of a wide brim!

Blog-LizaDer13-096EThis year for the Derby I wanted to create a hat similar in dimensions to the Liza but with a fedora style crown.

I got started by fashioning a Liza hat foundation in cream dupioni silk.

I then took white dupioni silk, white silk organza and a soft pink organza and handcrafted a large rose curl, adding dusty sage organza ribbons for leaves.
