Blog-DerbyHatCountdownPoster-2015-49HatsThe Chelsea Derby hat is so wearable! She has many different “looks” all depending upon her trims and fabrics, and it’s a style that frames the face beautifully!

Several years ago I started creating “Marguerite” fleurs to trim my hats. Created out of organza petals with rose curl centers, the flowers remind me of daisies dancing in the sunlight. This year I wanted to offer a Chelsea featuring red silk Marguerites for the Run for the Roses!

I got started by fashioning a 16-inch hat foundation in red dupioni silk.

I added a medley of black silk organza leaves to frame each of the Marguerites and laid them across the front brim of the hat in a cascading line.
