The Derby Hat Countdown continues featuring 101 Derby hats created by MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS®!
Today we are featuring Hat #39, the “Tasha” wide brim chapeau that is found in Salon 2 of the Derby Hat Collection at maggiemae.com.
After studying the asymmetrical Sasha brim shape, I began to play with her design. I created the Tasha hat base in white dupioni silk and reshaped the asymmetrical brim in a bold new way for a very different look.
Inspired by the bedazzling blue tones of Pantone’s color chart predictions for Spring, I trimmed the hat with a single large rose curl fashioned out of alternating layers of deep blue tulle and taffeta. Pantone, known world-wide for their color matching system, is closely watched by the fashion industry for their choices of the most popular current colors.
Finally, I added blue organza leaves, a lavish taffeta bow and swirling tulle for the finishing accents to the trim centerpiece to make it really pop!
Simply sumptuous from any angle, the Tasha is ready for her Derby entrance! She is also an elegant choice for an entrance at a wedding, Royal Ascot or a lovely garden party this spring.
