Can you believe it’s that time of year again already?? 😉
The Derby falls on May 7th this year and we are just 101 days away from what many call “the most exciting two minutes in sports”. To mark those 101 days I’ll be showcasing one selected hat each day from my Derby Hat Collection in a poster that will be shared on my Facebook page, Twitter and Pinterest.
Whether you are attending this year’s Run for the Roses and searching for the perfect hat to wear or simply love fancy hats, I hope to satisfy your passion one day and one hat at a time!
Today we are featuring Hat #101, the “Sojen’s Corinne” wide brim chapeau that is found in Salon 2 of the Derby Hat Collection at maggiemae.com.
Jen had found a beautiful pink and chocolate brown print dress that she liked and wondered if I could recreate the original Corinne in a warm ivory silk with chocolate trims. The result was a luscious new Corinne wide brim design in ivory dupioni silk trimmed with a chocolate organza Marguerite, matching brown satin sash, tulle and buttons.
Jen was thrilled when she received her chapeau. I asked her what she would like to name the new hat design. She promptly replied, “Sojen’s Corinne” in honor of her gorgeous Canadian Warmblood named Sojen.
I received an email from Jen when she was en route to the Derby. She told me that she never let the hat out of her sight for one minute, even on the plane. She and her Sojen’s Corinne were clearly on their way to the Derby adventure of a lifetime!
For more views of the Sojen’s Corinne chapeau shown above, please visit the Sojen’s Corinne hat webpage.
As we approach Derby Day, I invite you to keep checking my Derby Hat Collection at the MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS® website. To make it easier for you to browse, this year we are offering four unique Derby Salons with hats arranged according to size: Big Brims, Extra Wide Brims, Flappers/Medium Brims and Fascinators/Cocktail Hats/Cloches. New hats will be created and added throughout the season, so keep stopping by to see what’s new!
And please remember that if you are attending the Derby don’t forget to get your Derby hat shopping started early. Custom Derby hat designs can be time intensive and those rush charges can really add up as we get closer to Derby Day week! 😉
