The 2019 “Hats Off to the Horses: The Road to the Derby” for Old Friends sponsored exclusively by MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS® continues with the second auction hat of the season, the “Bint Marscay”!
The second hat up for bid for February in our “Hats Off” series for Old Friends pays tribute to Australian champion, Bint Marscay, who “beat the boys” in the 1993 Golden Slipper Stakes (G1).
Sadly, “Binty” died at the age of 28 on January 29, 2019 at Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement in KY, where she had been retired since the Spring of 2013.
Special thanks to Shelby Landeros and her husband jockey Chris Landeros and their son Beckham for modeling the hat, and to chief photographer for Daily Racing Form and 6-time Eclipse Award winner, Barbara D. Livingston, for her stunning images!
But thank you most of all to Bint Marscay, the horse, who inspired this very special hat that will raise funds to support all of the retired racehorses of Old Friends.
