Today we are featuring Hat #28, the “Annabelle” of the Polka Dots found in Salon 3 of the Derby Hat Collection at maggiemae.com.

Every Derby season I get a major craving for polka dots. It seemed to me that the Annabelle shape would be perfectly suited to playful polka dots amidst a classic palette of black, red and white for the 141st Run for the Roses!
I created the Annabelle hat foundation in black and white cotton with a bold red silk underbrim for an element of surprise when the wearer’s face is upturned. I fashioned a simple red taffeta sash with matching leaves as the setting for a large red silk organza rose curl.
The “butterfly wings” of the back brim add a special twist to the hat. And for the final touch, there is a tiny red button in the back.
For anyone like me who loves playful polka dots, the new Annabelle is PERFECT!
